Heart Wrenching

The sun coming up from across the street.  Beautiful.

I was just doing a little blog browsing and stumbled upon a video that brought me to tears.  We all know someone who has battled cancer or is battling it now.  The big "C" word.  It can be scary!  Some say it's not a matter of "if" we get it, it's a matter of "when."  Well this video offers a little hope and a big dose of courage.  It brought tears to my eyes.  Please watch it, maybe it will be an inspiration to you.

I don't know if I'd have her courage!!

I would like you to meet...

I want to introduce you to a couple of "things."  First is Buddy.

This is Buddy.  My Mom and Dad just adopted him last week.  He is stinkin cute.  And all puppy.  Loves to chew and nip and jump.  I love him.

It's been a long time since we have had a new puppy in the family, so we are all enjoying him.  Well, except for my nephew.  He is more afraid of Buddy than anything else.

That's me and Buddy just hanging out on the couch.  (He's not supposed to be on the couch, so don't tell anyone.)  :]

He was "captured" and put in "jail."  In other words, he was being naughty.  :[  Poor little guy.

Okay, before I post waaay too many pictures of the dog I better move on and introduce you to something else.  This is...

Doug!  Yes, I named a plant Doug.  I'm a little embarassed to admit this, but it just sort of happened.  This very large plant was given to me as a "remembrance" of my former boss, Doug.  You see, it used to belong to him and he was unable to take it with him during his move, so it now has a new home.

I am really not mental even though it may come across that way.  This is by no means a "shrine" or anything weird like that.  It's just a beautiful plant that happened to need a name.  Well, I think the name fits.  How bout you, do you like the name or are you calling in the institution to reserve me a room?

:]

Just checking in

Boy, I'm a little disappointed in myself.  I've spent more time reading blogs than actually writing a blog.  I'm sure it has to do with the fact that I have no life.  Yep, I said NO life.  Just kids, school, work, cleaning, housework, more housework, sicknesses, laundry, church, and well...life.

I wish I had something super important to share, but at this point I'm just happy to be "living."  I've gone through some changes in life and have just been busy trying to adjust.

Valentine's day came and went already.  I received a delicious bouquet of roses from hubby.  I wanted to share a picture of them with you, but I missed my opportunity as now they are starting to droop.  But boy, were they beautious.  I hope you received a little love for v-day.

One thing I want to say and I won't get into it in this post (maybe another day), is that there are a lot of lonely people in this world.  God has really been showing this to me and I hope to really start spreading the love.

Love to those who need it.  And believe me, e.v.e.r.y.o.n.e. needs it.  I have found that most of the women I know feel like they don't have friends.  Sad isn't it?  Well, I am one of them.  Women whom I thought were loaded in the friends department feel as if they have no-one.  Well, not no-one, just that one true friend to call up and share their life with.

Well, I'm gonna do it.  I'm gonna put myself out there and be their friend.  Let the walls come down, open myself up for hurt, rejection, gossip, and (hopefully) support, guidance, wisdom and ultimately love!!

One thing I have found is that I don't really know how to be a friend.  You know, the more than just an acquaintace "how are you doing?", "what's new with you?" kind of friend.  I am going to have to figure it out as I go.  I guess I have nothing to lose right?

Well, we'll see.  Thanks for letting me share.

About the day

After being knee deep in laundry after everyone had the stomach bug it was nice to step foot in the great outdoors.  The walk to the bus was especially beautiful.  It was before the sun had a chance to melt the snow from the tree limbs.  Absolutely beautiful.

I don't know if you can see it, but there is a little bird tucked in the tree.

This one is my favorite!

I even snuck a few pictures of the birds fighting for their breakfast.

It's been a long week.  If you've ever been sick even for one day, you realize it takes way more than one day to get caught up.  That has been the case for me.  So, while at the grocery store the other night I treated myself to these beauties.

I love the fresh vibrant color against the stark white snow.  A touch of spring mixed with the heart of winter.  Isn't God's beauty something to behold?

I'm so glad tomorrow is Friday.  Aren't you?

The bathroom of all places

Just what you wanted to see.  A post about the bathroom.  Well, truth be told, I spent some one-on-one time with the "throne" this weekend.  Caught the stomach bug.  Ugh.

I don't know if you are like me, but I tend to do some of my best thinking while in the bathroom.  It happens to be the one place we can close the door and lock out life.  Even if it is for just a quick moment.  Well, I decided that I didn't want to "waste" (no pun intended) the time.  I want to be surrounded by scripture and what better place than the bathroom, since we do spend a lot of time in there.

I recently picked up some quick reads, words of encouragement, and scripture to read while I have a minute.  I've already been putting them to use.

I read some of Boomerang Joy while in the tub the other night.  It's an older book, but I highly recommend it.  One can't hear enough about joy in this day and age.

I guess the irony I noticed is that we clean ourselves on the outside while in the bathroom, so why not clean our insides as well.

I realize this is not a new concept.  Not even new to myself.  It's just that I spent a lot of time doing nothing while being sick that my mind tended to wander.  And, my time spent in the bathroom brought a lot of these thoughts to the forefront of my mind.

How much time do spend getting ourselves ready to go for the day.  We shower.   Spend a long time finding just the right outfit.  Style our hair.  Apply our make-up, jewelry and accessories.  But how much time do we really spend getting our hearts and minds ready for the day?

So, how about you?  Do you need some new reading material for your bathroom?  You never know when you might be spending some time in there!.  ;}

Happy February One!

If it is February 1st, then someone better tell the weatherman!!  This must be the warmest February I can ever remember.

Here's hoping you've enjoyed this weather.  If not, I'll send you some warmth through these pictures!!

On another note, I just have to mention one of my frustrations.

Has this ever happened to you?...
You hear your cell phone ringing and you can't find it.  Or, you hear it ring and you know it's in your purse, but you have to dig through the bottomless pit to find it only to finally grab it and miss the call?!  Aaah!!!  That has been happening to me A. LOT. lately.  Drives me crazy!!

Why is it that we carry everything but the kitchen sink in our purse?  I don't know about you, but I am definately thinking about downsizing.  I know that as soon as that happens inevitably I will need something and will no longer have it because of my downsizing.

Sigh.

What's a girl to do?

Don't get me started on finding my keys in the bottomless pit!!  ;]
